Associate Director for Learning, Teaching, and Pathway Development
Kentaro is the Associate Director for Learning, Teaching, and Pathway Development at ConnectEd, a non-profit organization whose mission is to partner with school, district, and community leaders to ensure that all students, regardless of background, are prepared to succeed in college, career, and life. Kentaro taught high school math for sixteen years, with thirteen years at Mission High School in SFUSD. He collaborated closely with math educators from Stanford and San Francisco State University for over a decade to improve instruction through group work, open-ended math problem solving, and project-based learning.
While teaching, Kentaro worked on the curriculum and development team for the Agile Mind Program through the Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin. He received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching in 2011. Mr. Iwasaki holds a Bachelor's degree from Stanford University and a single-subject credential in mathematics and Japanese from San Francisco State University and is a National Board Certified Teacher. He has two grade-level children at Monroe Elementary School in SFUSD.
