Dr. Laurie Scolari

Director

Dr. Scolari currently serves as Co-Director of the Our Children Our Families Council representing the San Francisco Unified School District. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Education at University of San Francisco. Previously, Dr. Scolari was the statewide Director for the California Community College Linked Learning Initiative at the Chancellor’s Office for California Community Colleges. She also served as the Dean of Counseling and Student Support Services at City College of San Francisco where she spearheaded successful data-driven initiatives that improved the transition of high school students of color into the community college.  She previously worked at University of California Santa Cruz for ten years and held several director level positions.

Simone Combs, MPA

Senior Analyst

Simone Combs is the Senior Analyst for the Our Children Our Families Council.  She began her career with the City and County of San Francisco in 2011 when she joined the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC). She eventually became the SFPUC’s only Contract & Budget Analyst overseeing highly visible formal contracts and complex operating budgets. During this time she also earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. A year after graduating with her master's, she joined the San Francisco Human Services Agency where she focused on programmatic data projects, outreach initiatives, and communication campaigns.

Luis M. Aroche, MPA

Family Support Navigator

Luis M. Aroche is the Family Support Navigator for the Our Children Our Families Council. As a native San Franciscan and first generation Latino, Aroche understands the importance of creating strategies that directly connect community to public services. Previously, he was the Sentencing Planner for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office where he worked to reduce dependency on long-term incarceration. Aroche also worked for local non-profits including the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, Arriba Juntos, Inc., and the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco.  Aroche holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.

Alecia Barillas, MPA

Council Coordinator

Alecia is a San Francisco native who currently serves as the Our Children Our Families Council Coordinator. She previously worked as the Senior Education Advisor at the Maisin Scholar Award. In her role, she supported students in achieving academic goals beyond high school. Before transferring to Golden Gate University, where she earned a Masters in Public Administration, she attended City College of San Francisco. At City College, she was an Ambassador in the Outreach and Recruitment Department where she worked with a team to promote greater access for students.
