September is the Director of San Francisco Office of Early Care and Education (OECE), which was created by Mayor Edwin Lee in 2012. She manages the OECE’s efforts to align and coordinate federal, state and local funding to improve access to high quality early care and education for children 0-5. Previously, she was the Program Director at the Mimi and Peter Haas Fund and worked to ensure high quality early education opportunities for San Francisco’s low income children and families. For over a decade, September was Director of Policy and Planning for the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth & Their Families. She also served as a founding staff of the Child Care Facilities Fund of the Low Income Investment Fund, an award winning public-private partnership designed to expand the supply of high quality child care facilities. Ms. Jarrett has an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies from San Francisco State University and a Master’s in Public Policy from the New School for Social Research.
